more for me than you
on this day, look forward to who you’ve been promised.

On My Way To Oz vol. III
On my way to Oz I refuse to be the coward: trembling and paralyzed with fear.

On My Way To Oz vol. II
On my way to Oz I refuse to be the tin man: absent hearted and fully machine.

I met death once,
she was cold and beautiful.
I think I kept her warm for a while.
I knew a ghost once,
she had a hint of innocence left.
and I think I taught her how to smile.
Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through...

the strangest thing
somewhere out there there’s a stranger, and she knows all there is to know about me.
In your case, you’re hating 2011 because of your own actions.
In my case, I’m hating 2011 because of your own actions.

New Year
New Year’s Day is a great metaphor for a clean slate. But that’s all it is. Changing the date on a calendar doesn’t change your circumstances in life. I know that when I wake up tomorrow I won’t be cured, but I have faith that my victory lies somewhere within 2012. And for that, I’m thankful for a new year.

Doris
There’s a sweet older woman at work who lost her husband 10 years ago. She still wears her wedding ring.
I want a girl like that.

My heart knows me well
My heart knows me well.
It’s my mind that I can’t trust.
The slips and glitches that it thinks, won’t alter my steady heartbeats.
I know my heart well, it’s the purest of the two.
I know my heart well, it’s in charge of the two.
i’m just now beginning to see how much of a bullet i dodged. i just wish i would have dodged all of it.

Autobiographical
These thoughts are not me.
I am not defeated.
I was born to face giants, born to walk among lions.
I am more than a conqueror.
I was called to move mountains, to carry torches and burn out dry lands.
I was called to part oceans, not drown in them.
I’m a city on a hill, the only glowing window in a darkened skyline.
I am a child of God, and I am not defeated.
How shall I pray?
Are tears prayers, Lord?
Are screams prayers, or groans, or...

It's a feeling worth fighting for
I love moments where I’m in my right mind these days. I’ll tell you one thing, I won’t take it for granted anymore…not after this.
it’s a good feeling.
It’s me. It’s who I used to be.
A hopeful child, not some hopeless wild vagrant from the street.
so, “swing low, sweet chariot…”

“You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen.” — Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast
